MY VISION FOR PROSPECT AND THE EAST WARD
I believe the City of Prospect has never been in a better position. Together we have created a City and a Community that other Councils look to for leadership and inspiration.
Being a smaller Council means we are nimble and agile. We can try new things, such as technologies, events and programs on a smaller scale, whereas a larger Council would struggle to make them viable.
We are a Council of new ideas.
But that doesn't mean there's not work to do.
Our smaller parks need updating. Play equipment that was appropriate 30 years ago just doesn't make the grade these days.
Our roads and footpaths need a constant rotation of upgrade and replacement. We can't just keep putting these works 'on hold' while we do other things.
We need to create a new way of safely moving traffic through and around our neighbourhood. The hideous and environmentally unfriendly humps and bumps are a solution from another era.
We need to engage with our youth more. Let's create more activities that capture their imagination and make Prospect a teen youth destination.
I will continue to fight hard for a fairer share of our rates to be spent on the Eastern Side of Main North Road. We shouldn't be seen as the 'Poorer Cousins' and I'll continue to be a loud, clear voice in Council to make sure it isn't the case.
My Guiding Principles
- Is it fair? I will not advantage one group to the detriment of another.
- Does it make good sense? Good decisions are based on common sense.
- Is it good for the East Ward? I will always fight for a fair go for the residents of the East Ward.
I believe my job is to be a voice of The People to The Council. Not the other way around.
I have have no political affiliations. I am absolutely loyal to the City of Prospect and loyal to Local Government. I have absolutely no aspiration to go into State Government politics. I'm here for the long haul.
Work Already Done
During my four years as a City of Prospect Councillor I've worked hard for residents on both sides of Main North Road. Click through to discover some of the things I'm most proud of.
Plan for The Future
Although we've achieved so much for The East this term, it's really just a start. I'm heading into the next four years not with promises but with fresh, new ideas and a plan of how to turn them into action.
